Manager, Events X2 [Australia]

The Role
Reporting to the Director, Events Policy and Programs and managing a small team, the position is responsible for providing high quality, strategic advice to senior leaders and Ministers. The position supports key government decision-making processes and works collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders to resolve issues and support the delivery of events and recovery of Victoria's events sector.

  • Lead a team tasked with providing oversight and policy advice to funding programs, legislative programs, and agency governance that underpin the Victorian events sector.
  • Provide high quality and timely strategic advice and recommendations to Ministers and DJSIR senior leadership on issues relating to the Victorian events sector, via cabinet submissions, briefings, PowerPoint presentations and reports.
  • Identify issues and initiate and lead negotiations with peers (internal and external) to gain commitment to policies and reforms, and delivery of activities.
  • Manage a team workflow in a fast-paced environment and navigate and optimise government and branch processes to deliver products in a timely way.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across DJSIR and other agencies to develop solutions and provide recommendations and elevate issues to senior leadership as required.
The Team
The position of Manager, events forms a part of the Tourism and Events branch in the Sport, Tourism and Events group.
Sport, Tourism and Events (STE) is comprised of Sport and Recreation Victoria (SRV) and Tourism and Events (T&E). SRV aims to create greater sport and active recreation participation opportunities for all Victorians in order to maximise economic, social and health benefits and enhance Victoria's liveability.
